GTECH G2, the interactive subsidiary of leading American gaming technology and services firm GTECH Corporation, has announced that the bad beat jackpot for its International Poker Network (IPN) has just surpassed €550,000.
Any player losing with four tens or better at some of the world’s leading online poker sites including VirginPoker.com, PokerHeaven.com, MermaidPoker.com and SportingBet.com is now guaranteed to walk away with a minimum of €150,000 in cash while every other competitor in the unfortunate hand will bank at least €10,000.
“Losing is bad enough but losing with a good hand can be painful,” said Tony Ure, Head Of Poker Networks for GTECH G2.
“The bad beat jackpot gives pain relief for everyone at the table.”
To qualify for the IPN’s bad beat jackpot, a player must be at a designated table and have utilised both pocket cards in their winning or losing hand. In addition, the losing hand must be quad tens or better while a minimum of four competitors must have been dealt into the game.
Although it’s been hit for lesser amounts since, GTECH G2 stated that it paid out one of its largest bad beat jackpots in November when a player at PokerHeaven.com walked away with €105,254 while the table’s other competitors each received €15,036.
“I was aware that the total jackpot was over €600,000,” said the lucky bad beat recipient at the time.
“When I lost with such a good hand I immediately left the table to see if I had won. I was speechless when I realised I had won. The atmosphere at the table when all the players realised we had won the bad beat jackpot was amazing. I’m planning to buy an apartment with some of the winnings and, of course, I intend to play a lot more poker.”
