Tough test for Tottenham this weekend

Long drought looks likely to continue as Harry Redknapp takes his team north to face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Friday 29th October 2010

Two of the top sides in the English Premier League meet this weekend as Manchester United welcomes Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in what could be one of the Mancunian team’s sternest tests of the season. Manchester United goes into Saturday’s match as the last remaining undefeated team in the English Premier League although it has drawn five of its nine games so far and will be without the services of injured strikers Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men currently sit five points behind leaders Chelsea with showing odds of 8/15 on a much needed win for the home side this weekend while is offering 11/20. Last season’s edition of this match-up ended in a home win courtesy of a brace from the penalty spot for Ryan Giggs and a late audacious chipped goal by Nani. Bettors can get odds of 4/7 from,,, and on a similar result this time out while and are going for 3/5. Tottenham last collected all three points at Old Trafford in December of 1989 with players such as Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne in its side and,,,,,,,,,,, and are offering odds of 8/13 that this long winless run will continue for another season. Tottenham surprised many by finishing fourth in the English Premier League last season to secure its first ever spot in the UEFA Champions League. Despite the added pressures, manager Harry Redknapp currently sees his side in fifth spot on 15 points and only two points behind Manchester United in third. However, the London-based club has already stumbled this season with defeats at the hands of lowly Wigan and West Ham, which sees currently offering odds of 4/1 on a victory for the away side in Manchester. Slightly longer, punters can get odds of 17/4 from on Tottenham winning away while,,,,,,, and show 9/2. At the far end of the spectrum are, and with odds of 49/10 on a win at Old Trafford for Tottenham followed by,,,,,, and listing 5/1. With the top of the English Premier League currently so tight, a draw would not necessarily be a bad result for either side although Redknapp would likely be the happier of the two bosses., and show odds of 13/5 on the game finishing in a tie while,,,,,,,,,, and are going for 11/4. Tottenham is set to face top Italian side Internazionale in a UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday and could rest a number of top players for the game at White Hart Lane. This, coupled with Manchester United’s growing injury list sees offer odds of 14/5 on a draw followed by,,, and with 3/1 and listing 301/100.
