Details released for NAPT second season

Poker tour sponsored by PokerStars.net will continue next month from The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles before moving on to Connecticut in April.

Thursday 27th January 2011

Isle of Man-licensed online poker site PokerStars.net has announced details for the next two stops of the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) following a successful start to the series’ second season in the Bahamas earlier this month. The site revealed that the second stop of this year’s NAPT will take place from February 25 at The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles with the $5,000 buy-in main event set to run from March 5 to 10. PokerStars.net stated that the Los Angeles stop will include ‘a full festival format’ while the main event and bounty shootout tournaments will be filmed for later broadcast on ESPN2 in the US, Canada’s TSN and ‘other networks globally’. “This year's NAPT Los Angeles event is eagerly anticipated by the players and the Bike is going all out to make this a memorable tour stop,” said Kelley O'Hara, Marketing Director for The Bicycle Casino. “The nine-day NAPT event will take centre stage in our March poker festival, which kicks off on February 25. Players will find a game or tournament of their choosing every day and every night.” The second season of the NAPT will then move to Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun with the $5,000 main event set to run from April 9 to 13. Just like in Los Angeles, the main event and bounty shootout will be filmed for broadcast in the future while PokerStars.net declared that the stop also features a ‘wider event schedule’. “In addition to the $5,000 NAPT main events, there will be plenty of side event action,” said Daniel Negreanu, a sponsored professional poker player with Team PokerStars. “With no-limit side events up to $2,000, a mixture of turbo, bounty and heads-up tournaments along with Omaha and eight-game, there will be something for everyone during the second season of the NAPT. “I'm also very happy to see the return of the incredibly popular bounty shootout events. This year the BSO format has been standardised as $10,000 buy-in double-shootout nine-handed open events capped at 81 players. These really put players to the test and result in great television.”
