Betfair is going mobile with OpenBet

Online betting exchange operator has signed a deal to utilise leading developer’s mobile wagering business-to-business platform.

Wednesday 29th June 2011

Online betting exchange operator Betfair has signed a deal that will see it utilise the mobile wagering business-to-business platform developed by sportsbook and software supplier OpenBet Limited. Betfair has now joined a growing list of clients that already includes Paddy Power, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Sky Bet and Centrebet in utilising OpenBet’s mobile sportsbook platform, which enables operators to choose their preferred partner before seamlessly integrating bespoke front and back-end solutions. “The advent of more sophisticated mobile Internet devices is a very important development for our customers and we embrace this progression to yet another channel,” said David Loveday, Chief Executive Officer for OpenBet. “We are constantly working in close collaboration with our customers to ensure that we are flexible and open to new ideas that push the boundaries of what we can offer from our market-leading platform.” OpenBet’s business-to-business platform features a single wallet solution that enables operators to obtain a single view of each customer and their betting activities through a preferred channel. It declared that this functionality ‘gives operators the ability to manage liabilities more effectively, target marketing and promotional activity in mobile gaming and ensure jurisdictional obligations are upheld’. “We look forward to further developing a good working relationship with OpenBet,” said Richard Hewitt, Head of Mobile Product for Betfair. “Betfair pioneered betting on mobile devices and, as the channel becomes more sophisticated, we are confident we have an engaging and user-friendly offering that will appeal to our players.”
