WCOOP 2011 guaranteeing $30 million

Tenth annual edition of popular online poker tournament series will kick off on September 4 and run for 22 days offering 62 individual events.

Leading online poker site has announced that it will award a guaranteed $30 million in cash prizes via the tenth edition of its annual World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) tournament series. revealed that the 2011 WCOOP will run from September 4 to 25 featuring 62 individual events including a guaranteed five million dollar no-limit hold’em main event final set to award one talented player with at least one million dollars in cash. The list of competitions will also encompass Omaha, Horse, draw, stud, razz, Badugi and eight-game poker events in a range of formats including heads-up, shootout, knockout, four and six maximum, big antes and turbos with buy-ins ranging from $109 to $10,300. “I can’t wait to start playing the WCOOP,” said Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, a member of the Team PokerStars Pro squad of sponsored professionals and the winner of two bracelets at the 2009 edition of this unique online poker tournament. “It’s the only online tournament series in the world that gives such amazing structures and prize pools. It’s time to take a shot at my third WCOOP bracelet. Join me.” The action is set to get underway on September 4 with a two-day $215 buy-in no-limit hold’em six maximum event featuring a guaranteed prize pool of one million dollars. This opening day will also feature a $10,300 buy-in no-limit hold’em high-roller tournament with a guaranteed prize fund of $1.25 million and a two-day $215 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with an identical guarantee. “One significant change to this year’s WCOOP is the greater range of starting times reflecting the growth of poker all over the world,” read a statement from Reflecting this range, WCOOP 2011 events will now kick off at six different times including from 11am, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 7pm and 10pm London time.
