IPN Bad Beat Jackpot hit at last

Finnish online poker player at banks $640,696 in cash despite losing a hand holding four Kings.

Friday 29th July 2011

The firm behind the International Poker Network (IPN) online poker platform, interactive gambling software and services provider GTECH G2, has revealed that its Bad Beat Jackpot was hit recently to award one lucky player with a cash prize of $640,696 (€442,954). Available at numerous online poker sites including,, and, the Bad Beat Jackpot offered by the IPN broke the one million euro mark on July 10 and continued to climb until being hit at $1,831,426 (€1,265,583) earlier this week. A player from Finland using the pseudonym ‘OmgoMgomGo’ lost a hand holding four Kings to collect his portion of the Bad Beat Jackpot while a competitor known as ‘7Adelaida7’ won the hand with quad Aces to take home an additional $320,391 (€221,477). The seven other players that had participated in the hand each collected $45,766 (€31,639). “I had two Kings and all the money went in pre-flop,” said ‘OmgoMgomGo’, who had joined earlier this year. “Once I hit my quads and saw the second Ace come on the river I was hoping that my opponent had hit their one outer. I was so happy when I realised it had happened. I still cannot believe it. “The atmosphere at the table when it hit was great and I would like to thank all of the players and the staff for their best wishes. As for what I am going to do with the cash, I am planning to buy a house, a car and will certainly be partying hard.” GTECH G2 stated that the Bad Beat Jackpot available via the IPN has already been reset to $360,000 (€251,200) and remains ‘the largest bad beat jackpot in online poker’. “These are exciting times at the IPN,” said William Scott, Vice-President for GTECH G2. “We’ve raised the bar with a massive new world record and, with our investment of two million Euros into the IPN, we are committed to delivering even bigger promotions and tournaments to our players.”
