Thursday 29th September 2011

Online gambling software provider Net Entertainment AB has revealed more details about the player who hit the record-breaking progressive jackpot tied to its Mega Fortune five-reel and 25-payline slot on Sunday. A 20-year-old Norwegian competitor from Hordaland was the lucky recipient of the €11,736,228 Mega Fortune progressive jackpot prize after getting lucky while at Betsson.com. “It is my pleasure to congratulate yet another multi-millionaire and it is fantastic to acknowledge that Mega Fortune hit a world-record in the history of online jackpots,” said Bjorn Krantz, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer for Net Entertainment. “We recognise that there is huge player interest in Mega Fortune and it is delightful to see how quickly these progressive jackpots can accumulate to such high payout levels. Our focus on portfolio and operational excellence stays firm and our commitment to provide our licensees with the most exciting games to maximise player experience is on top of our agenda.” Mega Fortune is available to play at numerous online casinos powered by Net Entertainment including CasinoEuro.com, PaddyPowerCasino.com Unibet.com and NordicBet.com and this most recent win is almost double its previous best of €6.3 million. Net Entertainment released Mega Fortune in late-January of 2009 and its progressive prize was first hit ten months later by a Swedish punter for €3.99 million. After this, it paid out three cash awards totalling €8 million while the pay-days over the past year have risen dramatically with a punter in October taking home €4 million. The cash prizes continued to grow with a female player in Sweden banking €5.3 million in February before this most recent record-breaking payout of just over €11.7 million. “Large jackpots are imperative for driving traffic and Net Entertainment’s progressive jackpot Mega Fortune truly delivers and is probably the most exciting progressive jackpot game on the online gaming market today,” said Henrik Persson, Chief Executive Officer for Betsson Malta Limited, the operator behind Betsson.com.
