PokerStars.com heading for a Mega Milestone

Online poker domain expects to deal its 70 billionth hand over the next ten days and is holding a special promotion open to all real-money ring game players.

Thursday 27th October 2011

PokerStars.com is poised to deal its 70 billionth hand over the next ten days and is celebrating with a special Mega Milestone promotion that is due to hand out more than $750,000 in cash to real-money ring game players. PokerStars.com dealt its 65 billionth hand back in July and revealed that its latest promotion will begin on Saturday and award prizes across 300 regular one-millionth milestone hands beginning with 69,700,000,000 and running through 69,999,000,000. Finally, the 70 billionth Mega Milestone hand, which PokerStars.com stated was ‘another step on the Road To 100 Billion’, will award one lucky player with a $70,000 prize in addition to other cash rewards accrued through play at the tables. For regular milestone hands, every player dealt into the game will be awarded with a base prize of $50 along with an additional $50 for every VIP player point earned over the preceding 50 hands. “For the Mega Milestone, the calculation is the same but multiplied by ten,” read a statement from PokerStars.com. “The winner of the hand also has their prize doubled and will receive an additional prize of $70,000. With more money awarded for earning more VIP player points, it pays to play more hands in the run up to a milestone hand in order to maximise the potential prize.” PokerStars.com has also declared that players can use a special counter in order to see how many hands have already been dealt with the first milestone hand expected to take place on October 29. In the 65 billionth hand, New Zealander ‘yllams’ pocketed the top award of $68,420 while playing at a $0.10/$0.25 six-maximum cash table. That promotion gave away $770,588 in total prize money with more than 1,600 players at PokerStars.com receiving cash bonuses.
