Fertitta Interactive buys CyberArts

Principals behind Station Casinos chain has bought American online gaming software developer for an undisclosed amount.

Friday 28th October 2011

Fertitta Interactive LLC has announced that it has purchased the assets of American online gaming software developer CyberArts Licensing LLC for an undisclosed amount. Headquartered in Oakland, California, CyberArts creates online and mobile gaming sites while Fertitta Interactive, which was established last year by the principals behind land-based casino operator Station Casinos Incorporated, wants to turn its latest purchase into a domain of its own if the current federal prohibition in the United States is overturned. “Fertitta Interactive fully supports the Federal regulation of online poker in the United States,” said Lorenzo Fertitta from Las Vegas-based Fertitta Interactive. “In CyberArts, we found a leader in the development and design of online gaming software with an exemplary track record of regulatory compliance. We will be working on new and innovative products with the goal of ultimately providing consumers with the best online gaming experience in a safe and secure environment.” Earlier this week, Intralot SA, the Athens-based developer and supplier of gaming and transaction processing systems, revealed that its Intralot Interactive USA LLC subsidiary had decided to sell its minority stake in CyberArts in order to better focus its resources on its own suite of technology and services. “This is the right deal for CyberArts and a tremendous opportunity to continue to provide the best online gaming software in the United States,” said Chris Derossi, Chief Executive Officer for CyberArts and the architect of the company’s software. “Fertitta Interactive's strong vision, commitment to seek Federal regulation for online poker and long history of gaming industry leadership makes it the perfect new home for the CyberArts products and personnel.” Fertitta Interactive stated that CyberArts will now continue to ‘advance its industry-leading online products including poker’ while also benefitting from its expertise in the casino industry, ‘extensive media platform and proven success at reaching the coveted 21 to 40-year-old male demographic’. “Online poker is a convergence of traditional casino gambling, Internet marketing, technology and entertainment,” said Tom Breitling from Fertitta Interactive. “The combined management team at Fertitta Interactive and CyberArts is uniquely positioned to meet the challenges of the online gaming industry.”
