William Hill Poker has announced that it is currently running a series of satellites that are offering players the chance to win seats and prize packages valued at €4,600 into the main event of next year’s Irish Open in Dublin for as little as two Euros. Running until March 25, the Irish Open 2012 satellites can be accessed by visiting WilliamHill.com and clicking on the ‘land-based’ tab before registering for an upcoming event. Weekly €215 freezeout main satellites take place every Sunday while players can compete in qualifying tournaments every Thursday and, beginning in January, additionally on Tuesdays. Each prize package set to be given away by WilliamHill.com will include a player’s €3,500 main event buy-in alongside €655 for flights and spending cash, €50 to cover any handling fees and €395 for a five-night stay beginning from April 5 at the Burlington Hotel in the Irish capital. “With a tradition and history second only to the World Series of Poker, the Irish Open boasts being the longest running no-limit Texas hold’em tournament in Europe,” read a statement from WilliamHill.com. “Past winners have included English poker pro Neil Channing, who took home the top prize of €801,400 in 2008, and home-grown hero Marty Smyth, who defeated Roland de Wolfe in an epic heads-up battle to claim €650,000 and the 2007 title. “More recently, the 2009 Irish Open main event was won by Swedish professional Christer Johansson and in 2010 20-year-old Englishman James Mitchell took the honours with both champions winning over €600,000. In 2011, the title returned to Ireland with youngster Niall Smyth taking the trophy and €550,000 to boot. “You could be experiencing this electric atmosphere first hand by qualifying through our fantastic super satellites taking place right through to March 25. “Past prize pools for the tournament have exceeded three million Euros and this year could be even bigger. With WilliamHill.com running satellites from as little as two Euros, this is your chance to play in a televised tournament against some of the biggest names in poker and add your name to poker's hall of fame.”
