Online sportsbook places Team Canada as favourite to win

Online sportsbook, PinnacleSports.com, have placed Team Canada as favourite to win the 2005 Men's World Hockey Championship title.
PinnacleSports.com has calculated odds on seven individual countries capturing the World Hockey Championship. Winners of last year's World Cup of Hockey, Team Canada has been installed as the early favourite to win the tournament at 3/1 odds (i.e., win $3 for every $1 bet). The Czech Republic with a team composed of 26 NHL players led by New York Ranger Jaromir Jagr, has the second best odds to win the tournament with odds of 18/5.
According to PinnacleSports.com, Russia (11/2), Sweden (13/2), and Slovakia (13/2) could also figure into the championship mix. Last year's World Cup runner-up, Team Finland is listed by PinnacleSports.com as a long shot to make a title run in Austria at 8/1, while Team USA has the longest odds of the seven serious championship contenders at 9/1.
Bettors can wager on any other team winning the World Hockey Championships at 40/1 odds. In addition to offering odds on which country will capture the title, PinnacleSports.com will be offering lines on every game during the 2005 World Hockey Championships.
