Online poker operator has promoted ‘special advisor’ to the role of Chief Financial Officer in hopes of growing business.

Taipei-based GigaMedia Limited, one of the firms behind online poker site EverestPoker.com, has announced that it has appointed Dirk Chen to succeed Quincy Tang as its Chief Financial Officer.
GigaMedia revealed that Chen has been a member of its board of directors and worked as a ‘special advisor’ since November with Tang now set to assume these roles.
“New financial management for the new GigaMedia and expertise in turning around and growing challenged companies; we are delighted to add Dirk to our team,” said John Stringer, Chief Executive Officer for GigaMedia.
“His combination of financial, team-building and leadership skills and his proven ability to develop financial solutions for superior performance will help us drive and manage growth.”
GigaMedia stated that Chen brings with him ‘extensive financial leadership experience in international business’ and ‘an excellent record of delivering corporate growth and strong financial performance’. He worked for over 30 years for leading Taiwanese financial firm Chailease Finance in different roles including as senior advisor, President and Chief Financial Officer and spearheaded growth in China that saw the company triple its revenues for that market.
“Following the 2008 financial crisis, he directed a turnaround team at the firm's New York operations, developing solutions that contributed to significant improvements in financial performance,” read a statement from GigaMedia.
“Dirk also served as the Chief Financial Officer for publicly-listed Financial One Corporation in Singapore and is experienced in US GAAP.”
