ISPT collaborates with the APAT

Organisers of next year's live poker event at Wembley have also signed up high stakes pro Sam Trickett as an ambassador.

Wednesday 29th August 2012

The Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) has signed a partnership deal with the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) that it set to cover four events over the course of its sixth season. APAT revealed that the affiliation started at last weekend’s European Championship of Amateur Poker (ECOAP), which took place at Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn and saw the winner bag a seat into the ISPT’s Wembley Stadium event in May. “APAT are happy to lend our support to the ISPT,” said Des Duffy, Managing Director for the APAT. “We created the UK’s first national poker tour and are excited that our members will have the opportunity to qualify for the UK’s largest ever poker event online at APAT.com.” APAT players will also be able to earn seats into next year’s Wembley Stadium event at its Scottish Amateur Poker Championship, which is due to run from October 13 to 14 in Glasgow, and via January’s United Kingdom Team Championship from Luton. There will also be one London seat up for grabs at the World Championship of Amateur Poker, which is scheduled to get underway from March 28 at Dusk Till Dawn. “All the poker fans are welcome, from amateurs to professionals,” said Prosper Masquelier, Chief Executive Officer for the ISPT. Therefore, partnering APAT was completely natural for us.” ISPT has also signed a deal with high stakes poker pro Sam Trickett who will act as an ambassador for the Wembley event. 'As a poker player, I have to be associated with such an enormous event,' said Trickett, who was runner up in the $1m Big One for One Drop tournament at the 2012 World Series of Poker, 'Being part of this tournament means being part of the history of poker.' The ISPT hopes to bring together a field of over 30,000 poker players at Wembley Stadium in May to compete for a prize pool estimated at 20 million.
