GEObet links with Saskatchewan First Nations to develop internet gaming solution

Proposed solution would extend the reach of the Canada's Saskatchewan First Nation Gaming network.

Thursday 30th August 2012

GEObet Gambling Network , a specialist provider of turnkey solutions for tribal and independent- casinos, is examining the possibility of developing an online gaming solution with Canada's Saskatchewan First Nations. “We are exploring online opportunities in order to create revenue for our communities and provide business and employment opportunities for our members. We are doing this by exercising our Inherent and Constitutional rights” said Bernie Shepherd, the former Chief of the White Bear First Nation and the leading light behind Canada's first Indian owned land-based casino. GEObet has already made a number presentations, including to the recent Special Indian Gaming Assembly in Prince Albert, regarding the new solution that would extend the reach of the Saskatchewan First Nation Gaming network. “First Nation casinos can’t afford to lose their many land-based casino customers to offshore online operators,” said GEObet CEO Gerry Gionet, the First Nations entrepreneur and founder of the GEObet Gambling Network. “So we’ve developed a turnkey igaming solution that will enable Saskatchewan First Nations to get up and running online as quickly and smoothly as possible.” Recent developments south of the border have also had an influence on current First Nations thinking. “The draft igaming bill is a positive and unified step on behalf of our southern relatives who are on the path of self-governance and self-sustainability,” said Shepherd. “The entrepreneurial spirit remains strong in the indigenous people of North America and gaming / gambling is an inherent part of our society dating back thousands of years. The success of the regional tribal casinos and their professional operations has lead to this commons sense approach and is the right approach to extending First Nation gaming businesses into the online world with the same rights and freedoms that other industries enjoy.' Saskatchewan is currently home to six First Nations casinos in White Bear First Nation, Whitecap Dakota First Nation, North Battleford, Swift Current, Prince Albert and Yorkton.
