Real-time betting offered throughout the British Open

Sportsbook.com names Tiger as the man to beat at St. Andrew's

Monday 11th July 2005

Sportsbook.com has listed Tiger Woods as the favorite to win his second Claret Jug, and second at the fabled St. Andrew's course, with odds at 16-5. Woods won the event the last time it was held at St. Andrew's in 2000.

Jack Nicklaus, the sentimental favorite, will be playing his last British Open and is listed at 500-1 to win the event he captured in 1966, 1970 and 1978, the latter two also held at St. Andrew's. Sportsbook.com is also offering odds on Nicklaus' first round score, with the over/under currently set at a score of 78.

Other favorites for the title include Vijay Singh and Ernie Els both at 10-1, Phil Mickelson at 13-1, Retief Goosen at 18-1 and Sergio Garcia, still looking for his first major victory at 20-1.

Sportsbook.com will offer real-time betting for the British open. This feature was a huge hit with bettors at last month's US Open, where previously unheard of Michael Campbell came out of nowhere to contend for, and eventually win the tournament. Real-time betting offered customers the chance to wager on Campbell once it was clear he had a chance to pull off the upset.

'The British Open has produced two very surprising winners, Todd Hamilton and Ben Curtis, in the past two years, so real-time betting is ideal for an event like this,' says Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. 'Few people were likely to have bet on players like Curtis or Hamilton at the outset, but real-time betting gives fans a chance to continue to bet on the potential winner into the final day.'
