William Hill posts future Kentucky Derby odds

Honor Code and Tap It Rich head a list of 101 horses in with a shout of triumphing at next year’s prestigious race.

Monday 28th October 2013

The 140th running of the Kentucky Derby horserace may be over six months away but William Hill has already released odds on 101 hopefuls headlined by Honor Code and Tap It Rich. The 2014 edition of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled to be run on May 3 from the world-famous Churchill Downs venue in Louisville, Kentucky, with Tap It Rich and Honor Code both currently listed at odds of 50/1 followed by Commissioner, Havana, Mosler, Ride On Curlin, Smart Cover and Strong Mandate at 75/1. “We’ve timed the release of our Kentucky Derby futures to give our customers a chance to lock in prices before the big races over Breeders’ Cup weekend,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Trading Director for William Hill US. “With The Run For The Roses more than six months away, this is a great opportunity to get odds of 50/1, 100/1 and higher on some very promising horses.” The winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby, the three-year-old Orb, had opening odds of 150/1 with William Hill before going to the post as the favourite at 5/1. Other favourites for the 2014 event include Bashart, In Trouble, Kendall’s Boy, Matuszak, Tapiture, We Miss Artie, Cleburne and Diamond Bachelor at 100/1 while punters can get 150/1 on horses such as Wry, Tiznowforamerica, So Lonesome Schoolofhardrocks, Rum Point and Poker Player. Almost as popular as the Kentucky Derby, the 30th edition of The Breeders’ Cup will come to Santa Anita Park in southern California on November 1 and 2 with William Hill offering a $5,000 Twin Quinella jackpot for the Saturday. Several head-to-head proposition bets will be available for both days while punters wagering $50 in person at select US locations are to be given official souvenir caps.
