Bodog Charity Event Supports US Soldiers

Entertainers and celebrities “Salute The Troops” in TV special

Tuesday 13th December 2005

Online casino Bodog held a two-day event for over 110,000 US military troops in Hawaii, which is to be aired as a one-hour program for Spike TV on Sunday, December 18 (12:30 -1:30 am ET/PT).

The charity event was in benefit of the Fisher House Foundation, which supports military families, and included a host of celebrities, musicians, comedians and troops interacting in various activities including a poker tournament.

The No Limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament was won by actress and first-time tournament player Estella Warren (“Planet of the Apes”), who blazed a trail through the field, knocking out professional poker player David Williams along the way.

The tournament’s final table featured Shannon Elizabeth (“American Pie”), Emmy Award winner Jorge Garcia and World Series of Poker winner, Josh Arieh.

Other tournament participants included Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich ('Survivor,' 'The Amazing Race 7'), Dulè Hill and Joshua Malina ('The West Wing'), and Kelli Williams ('The Practice') along with more than 60 U.S. troops.

“The weekend exceeded all our expectations,” said Bodog founder, Calvin Ayre. “Bodog Salutes the Troops was designed to raise awareness for Fisher House Foundation and provide entertainment for the troops, and judging by smiles on faces and the tremendous support from all involved, the events were a great success.”
