Pennsylvania Lottery Offers WSOP Seats in Special Draw
Pennsylvania Lottery Offers WSOP Seats in Special Draw
Thursday 23rd March 2006
In an ingenious move to bring together America’s favourite gambling pastimes, playing high-stakes poker and buying up rafts of lottery tickets, the Pennsylvania State Lottery is offering five players the chance to go to the World Series of Poker in a $100,000 draw on April 10.
With each prize worth $20,000, the five contestants will receive a $10,000 seat at the WSOP, round trip air tickets, six nights in a five star hotel and $1,000 to spend - presumably on buying more chips when they’ve been knocked out of the tourney. Somewhat surprisingly, the lottery is also offering the chance to cash-in on the prize, with those under the age of 21 being compelled to do so (although they could probably just buy a seat for themselves.
Entries have to be received by April 7, but there is every chance that if you live in Pennsylvania and don’t have a spare $20,000 stuffed under the mattress, that you could be going to the WSOP. If not, you can always watch it on TV like last year.
