MySpace Gets In On The Poker Boom

MySpace Gets In On The Poker Boom

Monday 8th May 2006

It’s grown massively over the past two years, with more and more people taking it up and trying to convince friends that it’s worth giving it a go. Now, MySpace, the website aimed at bringing people together, seems to be benefiting the game of poker in a big way. For those who know little or nothing about MySpace, it’s a place to go where you can post information about yourself and add friends who can send you messages and post comments. It’s already been massive in marketing bands in the UK and now the world of poker seems to have caught on.

If you stick poker through the MySpace search tool, over 2,500 groups can be found, either looking for a poker league, some friendly tips or just a home game to sit in on. And that’s not all, the pros have taken up residency too, with Michael “The Grinder” Mizarchi having a page where fans can check through his stats and go to his website. Scotty Nguyen has done similar, although Evelyn Ng has opted for a personal site, where strangers can not be added as her friends. Owing to the public nature of MySpace though, anyone can go and check out her blog and see what she’s been up to. It appears that the latest way of networking has hooked up with poker in a massive way.
