CBS Sports Bets on Blackjack

Market Leading Skill Games Company Launches New Innovations

Monday 15th May 2006

In recent years, all eyes have been on the rise of Poker on TV. Now CBS Sports is bringing Blackjack to the small screen.

CBS Sports has reached an agreement with the Ultimate Blackjack Tour (UBT) for a series of programs that will run Saturday afternoons in September and returning for a second season in the spring.

The tour was founded by gaming expert Russ Hamilton, as a special series of “elimination blackjack” tournaments. The format gives the “average Joe” a chance to play alongside the best players in the world, such as World Blackjack Champion Ken Einiger, as well as poker champions like Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Annie Duke.

Rob Correa, Senior Vice President Programming, CBS Sports, said, “This special Elimination Blackjack is a unique format that should create excitement for the viewers.”

Poker champion, Annie Duke, said, “The UBT has figured out how to make blackjack exciting for television and I'm absolutely hooked.”

The special, patent-pending elimination format contains forced eliminations, secret bets and for the first time reveals the dealer's hole card to the audience.
