Monday 9th August 2004
The next novel to be released by award winning author Michael A Arnzen is based in Las Vegas, and centres around gambling. Like the first novel Arnzen penned, Grave Markings, the novel will be a horror story, centred around a collection of homeless gamblers, who are playing a deadly game of poker- with each card bearing a photograph of their murder victims. The structure of the novel echoes the topic, with the chapters based on a deck of cards, 52 in total, plus a supplementary joker chapter.
His first novel was highly regarded within the genre, winning both the Bram Stoker and international Horror Guild Awards. This new novel will be released in 2005. Publisher Raw Dog are planning to sponsor a series of poker tournaments to accompany the launch of the book. These events will take place around the Us, and will also take in the World Horror Convention and the Horror Writer’s Association Convention.
As well as a hardcover release, the book will have a special limited edition version released which will have a 3-D cover designed by Z Malice & Co, a company specialising in horror props. There will be 106 of these version released (the equivalent of two decks of cards including the joker) and each book will also bear a custom-designed playing card, complete with the author’s signature.
