Saitek to Create Hand Held Hold ’em

Games manufacturer to provide electronic Texas Hold ’em in hand held format

Tuesday 3rd August 2004

Saitek Industries, manufacturer of ‘smart’ games and the company that brought you Mephisto Chess is to turn its attention to the poker world. It will be quite literally a case of ‘hold’em’ when their hand held Texas Hold’em game hits the shops next year.

'We have been closely watching the poker craze and especially the popularity of Texas Hold'em,' said Saitek USA CEO, Bill McMahon. 'Saitek has a strong history for producing winning electronic forms of play, so we decided to get ahead of the pack and move quickly to give the public what they want: a way to play Texas Hold'em - anywhere.'

The company will use its expertise that it has gained over the years producing chess games in order to create the product. McMahon says he hopes it will be an ideal way for players to learn the game and hone their skills.

“Saitek's handheld version will be No Limit Texas Hold'em which allows for a wide range of betting options while learning to master the game. Texas Hold'em is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Saitek's handheld offers users the opportunity to learn winning game strategy before hitting the popular casino tournaments.”
