Jadestone sign deal with Nordic media giant
Jadestone and Aftonbladet sign three year agreement to develop online entertainment
Tuesday 30th May 2006
Swedish game developer Jadestone has announced an initial three-year agreement with Aftonbladet, Sweden’s largest newspaper and part of the Schibsted ASA. The agreement will take immediate effect with both parties developing the launch of a World Cup version of the football management game Drömelvan, Sweden’s best-known Internet based sports game. The concept is set to be exported and an international launch has already been implemented to develop subsequent post-world cup versions over the next three years.
“The World Cup Drömelvan will be this summer’s big thing in Sweden. It has perfect timing and who can really resist the challenge to prove their skills as managers in reality, instead of just shouting at the TV,” explained Jadestone producer, Jonas Jepson. “Jadestone has many years of experience developing online sports games and our version of Drömelvan is without doubt the most exciting so far.”
The partnership reinforces Jadestone’s strategy of collaborating with leading international media companies in order to offer the best high-quality online entertainment to consumers worldwide. Aftonbladet which has an audience of more than 8 million monthly unique visitors, has the largest newspaper circulation in Sweden and its associated website tops the charts in terms of online traffic & usage.
Aftonbladet New Media’s business developer Johan Åsén, commented on the agreement.
“Drömelvan is an incredibly appreciated game among Aftonbladet’s readers. We’re impressed by the competence and passion provided by Jadestone. This summers Drömelvan will definitely be much appreciated.”
Drömelvan has been testing the managerial qualities of the Swedish public for over ten years, and is now Swedens best known game in its domestic sports games market. Both parties hope that the new contract will enhance their profiles both domestically and internationally, with an array of exciting new sports games in development.
