Pinnacle offers odds on first MLB manager to be fired in 2006
Wednesday 29th March 2006
PinnacleSports.com opened the market on which American and National League managers will be the first to be fired or resign from their posts during the 2006 MLB season.
Pinnacle have released odds on all 30 MLB managers and it’s Texas Rangers’ Buck Showalter and Arizona Diamondback’s manager Bob Melvin who are 5/1 co-favourites to go first.
'The turnover rate for head coaches and managers in professional sports has skyrocketed as the eight new MLB skippers this season clearly demonstrates,' said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. 'A number of managers are definitely under fire entering the 2006 campaign and a poor start could mark an early exit. Professional franchises used to show restraint by making managerial changes only in the off-season, but now front offices simply look for the quick fix in hopes of righting a sinking ship and keeping fans in the seats.'
