Sportsbetting Speculation Mounts Over New NFL Commissioner

Match-Up Madness!

Thursday 23rd March 2006

Paul Tagliabue has announced that he'll retire as commissioner of the National Football League in July, ending a 16-year reign at the helm of the country's most popular sport. With the NFL's 32 owners now charged with selecting the sport's third commissioner in league history, PinnacleSports.com have released odds on who'll replace Tagliabue as the next head of the NFL.

The early odds favour the owners appointing a successor from within the league offices and current NFL COO, Roger Goodell, is an overwhelming 1/2 favourite to be named the next commissioner.

'By playing a major role in league expansion, labour negotiations and the direction of NFL properties, Roger Goodell has solidified himself as the leading candidate to become the professional football's next commissioner,' said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. 'If the owners decide to go in another direction, Rich McKay would be a logical choice as he's highly regarded in every league circle and has extensive NFL experience.”
