Online Casino Speculates on Underachieving Knicks

Shock winner of Best Picture has sportsbooks breathing sigh of relief

Tuesday 7th March 2006

After another win on Saturday, the NBA’s New York Knicks have stretched their season winning record to 16 matches. However, the record is not as impressive as it may sound as the Knicks are still five victories short of the all-time lowest number of victories in a season ever.

The current low of 21 wins came in the 1962 season and, although the Knicks have the benefit of playing two more games than their ‘60s counterparts, they could still fall short of the 21 game marker.

WagerWeb.com are currently offering odds on how the Knicks will fair through the remainder of the season and most gamblers so far don’t see the underachieving team getting much past 20 wins.

'I have a feeling that this is not what Larry Brown expected when he left the Detroit Pistons,' said WagerWeb.com CEO Dave Johnson. 'The New York Knicks are one of the most underachieving teams in the NBA Basketball League. With the highest annual payroll in the entire NBA, at a little over $120,000,000, they have only notched 15 wins. The New Orleans Hornets have an annual payroll of only $48,000,000, and they have 31 wins under their belt. Money doesn't always buy wins in professional sports. The Knicks will break their current mark for losses with less than 5 wins in their 23 remaining games. We expect to take a large amount of money on 19-20 wins which will break the record.'
