Brokeback Mountain, Ang Lee Favourites for Oscars

Don't Mess With Hot Teams!

Tuesday 28th February 2006

It’s only a few days away and the excitement is building for the 78th Annual Academy Awards. Come this Sunday March 5, all eyes will be on Hollywood's brightest stars to see who will win the prestigious prizes.

PinnacleSports.com was the first bookmaker to open betting on this year's Oscars, releasing odds only minutes after the nominees were announced on January 31, and now they have released updated odds with those cowboys still favoured to win in the major categories.

PinnacleSports.com currently lists 'Brokeback Mountain' as a 1/4 favorite to capture Best Motion Picture honors after originally opening at 1/13 odds to win the award and has director Ang Lee as an overwhelming 1/10 pick to take the Best Director award.

In other categories, Philip Seymour Hoffman remains a huge favorite (1/7) to win the Best Actor award for his role as Truman Capote, while Reese Witherspoon is the odds-on favorite to take the Best Actress Oscar at 1/4 odds.

Best supporting actor is set to be the closest run contest with Paul Giamatti (10/11) a slight favorite over George Clooney (2/1), whilst Rachel Weisz is expected to easily capture Best Supporting Actress honors at 1/2 odds.
