Betfair to host a $2m live poker event in Singapore

Betting Exchange breaks new ground in Asia with upcoming tournament

Betfair will become the first gaming company permitted to present a poker tournament in Singapore when they team up with Capital Events to host a tournament in November.

The Betfair Asian Poker Tour will feature players from across the world competing for an anticipated $2 million prize fund.

Qualification will take place online at Betfair Poker as well as at live tournaments all over the world and the event will be open to all-comers, including local players.

Betfair’s Head of Poker, Ben Fried, said, 'Singapore is an ideal place to host an event of this magnitude and we’re delighted to be given the chance to do it. It’s a wonderful tourist destination as well as a hub of activity for the region.'

The Tour will be televised and distributed to international broadcasters and other media.

Fried continued, 'Betfair is all about innovation and breaking new ground. In Singapore we will put on a memorable poker event as well as give our players the chance to experience Singapore.'
