Celebrities to Go All In for UK Poker Open

Celebrities to Go All In for UK Poker Open

Tuesday 12th September 2006

Unconfirmed reports suggest that amongst the high profile professional players and on-line qualifiers at this year’s 888.com sponsored UK Poker Open Event will be a whole host of well-known celebrity players.

Pokernews.com reports that Matt Dawson, Teddy Sheringham and Danny Dyer will be joined by 2006 World Snooker Champion Graeme Dott, television legend Mike Reid and Eastenders star Billy Murray.

Going into its third year, the 888.com UK Poker Open will have a 108 player strong field and will take place on September 25 at Maidstone Television Studios. Comprising the field are 65 poker pros, 35 internet qualifiers and eight celebrities, all playing for their share of a $500,000 prize pool.

'The 888.com UK Poker Open never fails to throw up excitement, surprises and some of the best poker played today,” Matt Robinson, head of UK marketing for 888.com told Pokernews.com. “Last year's tournament proved to be an outstanding success and this year, with the poker professionals and celebrities that we have lined up for the event, the third 888.com UK Poker Open will no doubt be one of the best poker programmes of 2006.'
