International Project for FOBT Developer

Fixed Odds Betting Terminal developer Project looks to international expansion

Wednesday 27th September 2006

Project, one of the UK's most established independently owned games developers, is planning to use its debut appearance at The Betting Show to explore the international market potential of its Fixed Odds Betting Terminal and video lottery systems.

Project’s FOBT network was developed in the UK as a joint initiative with Gamestec, and is currently live in the domestic LBO sector as well as in the Czech Republic. Its new international terminal will provide a larger compendium of online games, including poker and slots, than is currently available in the UK due to the Association of British Bookmakers' code of conduct which stipulates roulette as the only permitted casino game.

Tony Boulton, managing director and founder of Project, commented, 'The UK has constraints on the content allowed on FOBTs, and whilst we comply fully with the code, we have also developed a separate, broader suite of content for use in other jurisdictions.'

The Betting Show’s international focus was seen as critical to Project's decision to exhibit for the first time, as Boulton explained, 'Our objective is to make contact with representatives operating in countries which have the necessary legislation in place and to establish a presence in jurisdictions where the operation of Video Lottery Terminals is the next logical step in the liberalisation of gaming laws.'
