With the Grand National running at Aintree on Saturday, bookies will be hoping that Armaturk and Iris Royal make a swift recovery.
After Joes Edge shot up from 50-1 outsider odds to become 9-1 joint favourite at the time of writing, bookies could find themselves £10 million out of pocket if the ten-year old stallion steals the field.
Their only hope is for the recovery of the two horses that are looking doubtful, since Joes Edge needs only two runners to drop out to gift him a place in the 40-horse line-up.
The joint favourite's odds could fall even further as insiders have made public their opinion that he will run well in the dry conditions that are expected.
Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams said: "Joes Edge stands out like a sore thumb. If he does go on to win the National, we are looking at a massive payout - anything up to £10 million. It's more incredible considering his participation has been so up in the air."
It doesn't help the bookmakers that Graham Lee will be jockey on the day, who stormed home on Amberleigh House in 2004.
