Poker movie disappoints at box office

Tuesday 15th May 2007

Despite the latest poker movie Lucky You featuring the rather gorgeous Drew Barrymore and Eric Bana, the film has been a flop in the box offices.

Critics blame a lack of chemistry in the relationship between the leading actors as well as poor performances, predictability and a dialogue riddled with cliches.

After finishing its second weekend in cinemas, the Warner Bros production has dropped from a hardly stunning sixth place to thirteenth in the movie rankings and only managed $1.1 million in ticket sales over the three-day period, bringing total sales to just $4.7 million since it first aired.

It has disappointed poker fans and movie aficionados alike with the romantic chick-flick scenes putting ardent poker fans off seeing it and the poker action not sitting well with romantics.

After Curtis Hanson's previous 'intelligent' blockbusters, such as Wonder Boys and LA Confidential, the director's latest effort comes as a disappointment.

Even the array of poker pro faces that feature in the film are not enough to save the film from being a hideously bland mess. Go see Spiderman instead.
