Nottingham's Dave Smith was champion of the fifth Grosvenor UK Poker Tour event which has just finished in Brighton.
Smith joined Praz Banzi, Jerome Bradpiece, Michael Greco and Dave Colclough as the fifth event winner, in for a shot at the grand prize pot of more than £95,000 in December.
Over 300 poker players registered at the £1,000 buy-in event although some of them had won free seats from previous tournaments.
The line-up saw many familiar poker faces, including Albert Sapiano, 'Mad' Marty Wilson, Willie Tann and Lucy Rokach.
At the end of the second day, 88 players were facing chip leader Smith, with Richard Ashby and Barney Boatman among those who could not compete with the Nottingham player's 102,000 chip advantage.
Yet Smith was reduced to fifth in the chip stakes on the final day, playing with 262,000 tokens as Albert Sapiano led the field with 739,000 and newbie Neil Carr played with 726,000.
Eventually an on-form Smith beat Carr in a decisive head's up.
