UltimateBet.com wins the bet for a good cause

Horse racing event proceeds will go to charity

UltimateBet.com, the online poker site, which is sponsoring the 2004 UltimateBet.com Guineas Festival, a 2-day weekend of racing on 1st and 2nd May, 2004 in Newmarket, has donated winnings to the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) in Lancashire, England earlier this week.

The Antigua-based website, staged an online poker tournament earlier this week with the wining purse (US$1,500) going to this worthwhile race horse charity. Each player who participated in the event paid US$20 for a seat at the virtual table, with half of the US$20 donated to the charity and the other half going into the prize pool. In addition, UltimateBet.com donated US$50 for every participating player.

‘We are most grateful to Utimatebet.com for their generous contribution to the TRC. Raising money for our less glamorous expenses is one of the most difficult jobs we face and this donation will meet the costs of our farrier for a whole month - many thanks,’ said Carrie Humble, MBE, founder and director of the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre.
