World Series of Poker Win Breaks Record -- Hellmuth honoured by Brunson and Chan

June 2007 (Las Vegas) -- When Phil Hellmuth Jr. beat more than 2500 other players to win his 11th series tournament, topping the likes of Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan in the World Series of Poker bracelet race, he was crowned the “winningest World Series of Poker player ever”.
This week in Las Vegas, Hellmuth won a $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em event, beating Andy Philacheck at the final table. The $637,254 in prize money that he won broke the record.
'I barely noticed the money,' Hellmuth claimed. 'I'm a bracelet guy.'
Ya. Right.
Never mind – Helmuth got his bracelet. Brunson and Chan presented him with it at a brief ceremony after his win Monday night.
'There's no put-on with him,” said Brunson. “He says what he thinks.”
