Southwest Airlines lands WPT contract

Wednesday 27th June 2007

World Poker Tour Enterprises (WPT) has announced that it will be sponsored by Southwest Airlines in its sixth season.

Southwest Airlines branding will feature prominently on the World Poker Tour 'runway' as the official airline of the tournament.

The airline will also sponsor the Season VI 'Watch & Win' sweepstakes on US TV channel GSN, which begins broadcasting early in 2008.

On the show, America's largest domestic airline will prompt the audience to enter a text competition to win a trip to watch the WPT's final table being filmed complete with courtesy tickets to fly with Southwest Airlines.

"As WPT is the premiere tour on the poker circuit, Southwest is the ideal brand for us to align with," said Steve Lipscomb, founder, president and CEO of the WPT. "We look forward to initiating what is sure to be a very exciting and innovative partnership."

"Southwest Airlines sees this exciting new partnership as a way for Customers to see our brand in an entirely new environment," added Lilah Steen, national promotions specialist for Southwest Airlines. "We know the world is passionate about poker and we are so happy to be associated with the premier brand for this sport."
