Old Hands a Rarity at Everest Poker’s Japanese Event
New faces make up the first to qualify for Poker Japan Cup

The first three qualifiers for August’s Everest Poker Japan Cup are not grizzled pros, but relative newcomers to the game of poker.
Everest Poker started free live satellite qualifying events for the Cup, which is to be held in August on the island of Tinian, in April in the Tokyo area with the first online tournament a week later. The winner that day was ‘Alternative0’, who had only been playing for eight months.
The qualifier from the May 12 live qualifier ‘AD1’ was similarly inexperienced with only ten months of playing under his belt while ‘Namazu7’, a golf and casino game enthusiast, topped the May 17 qualifier.
'We've been really impressed with the response from our Japanese players, many of whom are playing live poker for the first time ever,' said Jonathan May, Everest Poker’s Property Manager.
'These free tournaments give everyone the chance to show off the skills they've developed.'
Everest Poker will hold two qualifiers a month, which will end with 30 players receiving a $1,400 prize package that includes travel and an entry fee to the final live event. Winning the Cup will net the lucky player a prize package worth $20,000.
