Smoking Ban to Trigger Online Bingo Boom

St Minver report predicts smoking ban set to push 63% of offline bingo players online

Wednesday 23rd May 2007

A new survey, published by online gaming group St Minver, has revealed that 63% of bingo players, who are also smokers, would spend an increased amount of time playing Internet Bingo when the smoking ban comes into force on July 1.

The results of the survey, which questioned 3,000 bingo players, will no doubt strengthen online Bingo’s already flourishing position in the iGaming market, with thousands of sites operating in the UK alone.

Internet bingo firms are also confident of the sector’s growth with several high-profile companies including Mecca, Gala, Jackpot Joy and Parlay Entertainment confirming their attendance at the second annual Online Bingo Summit [www.bulletbusiness.com/bingo] held at Regents Park Marriott hotel, London on September 25th and 26th to discuss how offline bingo can move forward.

Dominic Mansour, CEO at Bingos.co.uk said of the summit: ‘The Online Bingo space is gearing up to corner a large slice of the online gaming sector... things are very exciting right now. The Online Bingo Summit is the only place in Europe to meet with key Bingo industry executives and to discuss the challenges we will face over the next year.’
