Vinny Vinh is reportedly alive, though his whereabouts and condition are still a mystery. There is much speculation over what has happened to Vinny Vinh since he failed to return for the second day of the World Series of Poker $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event. Vinh had amassed so many chips on day one that he blinded out in 20th place, winning $16,212.
Shane “Shaniac” Schleger reported on the 2 + 2 Forum that Vinh’s backer says Vinny is alive. Apparently this is not the first time Vinh has disappeared. At one California Stage Championship, (where he blinded out in 21st place), Vinh did not turn up to play out the second half of the tournament, and was later found in hospital.
There is a lot of speculation that he has substance abuse problems, and crack, meth and heroin have all been mentioned. Many agree that Vinny Vinh, who is rotund and smiling in many photos, has become extremely thin and more aggressive than usual. Vinh’s backer is also said to be a friend, and many are hoping that if drugs are the problem, then the friend can help Vinh back to better health.
