No Mirage for World Poker Tour Winner

The WPT event at the Mirage has been won by Jonathan Little

Thursday 24th May 2007

The final table at the World Poker Tour Mirage event was characterised by volatile chip stacks, but in the end Jonathan Little caught trip 2s as his Ac2c held out against Cory Carroll’s Ah7d. The win brings Little a first prize of $1,066,295, a seat in the season six WPT Championship, and the Mirage Poker Showdown championship title. Carroll, who had taken control of the early stages of the heads up game, went home with a consoling $561,369 for his second place.

When the game entered the three player stage, Darrel Dicken won a million dollar pot from Carroll, and, became chip leader. Little was relatively short stacked, but showed a champion’s form by pushing the upset of the two other players and doubling up in two of the following three hands. Carroll took it out on Dicken, who was busted out three hands later.

Phil Ivey was knocked out by Carroll, giving him fifth place and winnings of $129,684. It was Little who pushed Richard Kirsch out of the game in fourth place, with winnings of $172,912.
