Queen of Big-Hearts

The Queen of Hearts team of female poker players is raising money at the WSOP

Tuesday 15th May 2007

The Queen of Hearts all-woman poker World Series of Poker team, whose members include poker pros, celebrities and professional women, will raise money for the Las Vegas office of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign and the Nevada Cancer institute, which is also associated with the tournament as a whole.

'We are sponsored this year by the Poker Player's Alliance, which has provided the first donation to the team and the charities,' said Lisa Tenner, who founded the team.

Other members include Tenner’s lieutenant, Mimi Rogers, the charity-friendly Jennifer Tilly, JJ Lui, poker journalist Lisa Wheeler, Florida magistrate and Mary Magazine, as well as amateur champions Anne Spinetti and Mylene Leitner, and Phil Laak will do some coaching.

The team will compete in the Ladies’ No Limit Hold’em even, scheduled for the 10th and 11th of June.

'Getting into the money in order to make a financial contribution is important, but even more critical is putting the spotlight on America's health. Heart disease and cancer are for the most part preventable and we can all do something to reduce the risk. Risk is essential in poker, it isn't in health,' said Tenner.
