20,000 online poker players drawn to Sunday Hundred Grand tournament

One of the world's largest online poker sites, PokerStars.com, has claimed that it shattered the record for the world’s largest cash poker tournament recently.
Its Sunday Hundred Grand tournament on July 29 drew a field of 20,000 online poker players with first place finisher ‘Lynna1’ capturing the top prize of $20,000, an almost 2,000 per cent return on her buy-in.
In addition, the Isle Of Man-based site said that it has also recorded its ten millionth customer. In just one year, PokerStars.com said that it has doubled its community of players from five to ten million to prove that poker has become a truly worldwide phenomenon.

“The Sunday Hundred Grand has broken the attendance record for a single cash poker tournament every week for the past five weeks since its debut on July 8, 2007,” said a statement from the company.
