William Hill has revealed that online gambling is increasing in popularity as a new generation of customers grasp the appeal.
A spokesperson for the bookies said that online gambling allows "so many more opportunities" for customers.
This news comes as new advertising laws on online gambling sites, which will come into force at the beginning of September, have been confirmed.
A spokesperson for William Hill said that online gambling is a growing market: "It certainly is growing. Partly because we've got a different generation of people coming through," she explained. "[For] the older generation who didn't used to handle computers anyway, it's quite alien to them whereas for people who are now in their twenties and thirties it's very commonplace to be using a computer."
"And it's also a different type of customer as well - there are so many more events you can bet on online and there's so many different events televised that you can watch at home at times when the betting shops didn't used to be open anyway, or aren't open.
She concluded: "There's just so many more opportunities for people. It's giving people who might want to have a bet the opportunity to do that."
