Asia Pacific Poker Tour Begins Next Week

Philippines to hold first major televised poker tournament

Friday 17th August 2007

The new Asia Pacific Poker Tour kicks off in one week’s time at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino in Manila with some of the world’s most well-known players committed to playing.

The event begins on August 23 in the Philippines with the second event scheduled for September 27 at the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel and Casino in Seoul, South Korea. The Grand Final of the Tour will take place in December at the Star City Casino in Sydney, Australia.

Professional poker players Joe Hachem and Daniel Negreanu have announced that they will participate in the Manila event along with 130 others who will put up the $2,500 buy-in to play in the Phillippines’ first major televised poker tournament.

The event in Korea will feature a $2,500 buy-in and will also be the first major televised poker tournament seen in that country. The Grand Final in Sydney will have a buy-in of $5,500 and is expected to draw numerous big name poker professionals.

At least three more events are expected for 2007 with the venues to be announced later in the year.
