Importance of playability for mobile gaming companies

Cometa Games design new Arcadia platform

Monday 1st November 2004

Cometa Games, a relatively new mobile game developer and infrastructure provider, has come out with comments on what issues this industry sector should be concentrating on, not only to ensure its success but also its survival. Comments from Ron Anderson the founder of this company have been emphasising his company’s commitment to further enhance playability for their customers, and stressed that such focus was crucial to any company looking to progress in the mobile gambling sector.

Cometa Games has already made great inroads into the gambling business, developing technology that can be used by the online gambling industry, including online casinos and bookmakers, as well as developing their own products for use on mobile devices. Anderson revealed that he thought that there was a great deal of room for improvement within the mobile gambling industry, both in terms of creativity and technology, and that Cometa games is looking to revolutionise the industry and make great strides in addressing both these areas.

Anderson said of the industry: “The mobile gambling market is evolving incredibly quickly However, the issue of quality, both in terms of the games themselves and the underlying technology is one which has yet to be addressed. Many of the gambling games on the market are simply not much fun to play. This has serious long-term implications for the usage of these titles and for the market as a whole. Cometa has a great deal of experience in developing titles with real gameplay and far greater appeal outside the immediate gambling function to ensure players return to play time after time.”

To this end Cometa have developed a new platform known as Arcadia designed to allow the creation, supply and management of gambling games and services. This solution allows players to make their moves at their own pace, eliminating the waiting for connections. Also the software is easily integrated into existing systems and highly secure.

Anderson added comments on this new platform: “The whole mobile gaming experience is built upon convenience and access. If players cannot access a service, use it and achieve something within a very short space of time, then they're not going to come back as often as they might. Allowing them to enter, play and enjoy our games as quickly as possible in a completely secure environment means that the infrastructure becomes transparent to the consumer. Having to wait for a connection to be established for each and every spin cuts down the amount of time the user actually spends playing. Arcadia™ allows the player to play at speeds of up to 1000 games per hour, ensuring even the fastest players are not left waiting as their mobile tries to connect. Cometa is committed to making the whole gambling experience as seamless and enjoyable for the consumer as it possibly can be.”
