Average Joes take on poker Pros
Friday 29th February 2008
After the success of the inaugural poker tournament, Pros vs Joes will return this March to One-Eyed Jack's Poker Room at the Sarasota Kennel Club.
Over March 7th and 8th, amateur poker players will take on the might of professional gamblers, poker analysts and stars of the sporting world.
For a $790 buy-in fee, 480 players can take part in Florida's largest poker tournament for a shot at the $85,000 top prize.
Professional poker players promising to attend the event include Chip and Karina Jett, Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi, Evelyn Ng and Chris Bell.
Tennis pro James Blake will also be trying his hand at the tournament along with ESPN poker analysts Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.
Fifty-four players will be able to cash after the field has been whittled down by two preliminary 240-player flights.
For the player who finishes in second place $50,000 will be the reward while the third-place finisher will win $34,000.
In December, Chuck Chestnut and Chris Ladriere were the lucky 'Joes' to lead the field at the first event and decided to split the pot between them.
