Poker pro Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson has finally won the NBC National Head's Up Poker Championships at the third time of asking.
Finishing as runner up in both 2005 and 2006, in 2008 it was third time lucky for Jesus as he beat the mighty Andy Bloch to take the title at long last.
Running at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, the tournament is a who's who of the poker world, with poker pros playing one-on-one until the ultimate champion is found.
In 2005, Ferguson beat Cyndy Violette, Gus Hansen, Mimi Tran, TJ Cloutier and Mike Sexton to reach the final table only to be taken out by Phil Hellmuth Jr.
The following year, despite conquering Freddy Deeb, the late legend Chip Reese, Josh Arieh, James McManus and Huck Seed, he was not able to see off Ted Forrest.
But this year, Ferguson finally got his hands on the $500,000 first prize after vanquishing John Juanda, Gavin Smith, Mike Matusow, Jonathan Little and even Phil Ivey.
Although his final table opponent Andy Bloch had the guts, he wasn't to have the glory and had to walk away with $250,000 after the river completed a full house for Ferguson.
Huck Seed and Phil Ivey both took home $125,000 for third place while six other players cashed big money.
