It may soon be necessary to start a club of WAGs just for poker pros, but the wife of one poker legend was determined to gain some fame of her own at this year's World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational.
Van Nguyen, wife of popular pro Men 'The Master' Nguyen, showed that it's not only her husband who has sharp poker skills.
In fact her victory at the 6th annual WPT Invitational at the Commerce Casino made her the first ever female to win a major televised WPT tournament.
And she did it in style, beating a field of 444 pros and celebrities from the cream of the poker crop, walking away with more than half of the prize pool donated by the casino.
Over the three days, celebrities including actors James Woods and Don Cheadle, actress Jennifer Tilly and talk show hosts Ricki Lake and Montel Williams battled it out, but were unable to overcome the pool of sheer talent.
"This great sport of poker is the only one that focuses on an individual's skill - regardless of gender - and we're thrilled the time has finally come to celebrate a female WPT Champion," said Steve Lipscomb, founder of the WPT.
"It was only a matter of time before a female took down a major WPT tournament, and what better way to mark this historic event than Van Nguyen battling for the title while her husband - a well-respected pro - cheered her on from the audience," he added.
"Her win is one of many recent events that solidify women as a major force to be reckoned with on and off the tables."
Maybe it won't be long before Van starts earning the poker nickname 'The Mistress'.
