Poker players from the UK may have the best skills on the planet as a list shows that poker fans from the British Isles were among those to earn the most money last year.
A list of countries whose native poker players earned over $1 million, or £500,000, in worldwide poker tournaments during 2007 was published in the Independent and shows a host of British talent in its rankings.
As many as five players from good old England were at the top of the table in poker earnings with one Brit earning more than any other nationality in the world.
John Kalmar may not be as big a name as Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott, but the Englishman won a few dollars more than his fellow countryman to be top of the league of poker earnings, pocketing $1.25 million last year.
The Hendon Mob's Joe Beevers was placed third with $1.2 million after triumphing in the Ladbrokes Poker Million in 2007.
Team mate and Londoner Mark Teltscher also managed to earn over $1 million in poker tourneys last year as did Julian 'Yo-Yo' Thew, another Hendon mobster.
