Malta-based online betting exchange Betsson has announced the launch of a service designed for Peru with the support of local partners, according to reports on the ex-pat website ‘LivinginPeru.com’.
With almost one million customers, the European giant is continuing its global expansion and has become the first company of its kind to operate in Peru.
Players in the South American nation will now be able to take advantage of Betsson’s online poker, casino, scratch cards and sportsbetting services.
According to Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC), online gambling in Peru is supported by tens of millions of players with estimated annual sales of over $15 billion a year. Poker is currently the fastest growing game as players use it as an extra means of generating income.
“We have examined several markets in South America and we chose Peru,” said Thomas Kalita, General Manager for Betsson.
“The important growth in the number of families with Internet and the high rate of Internet users combined with the developed gambling culture and the expertise of our partner were the main factors. We have also analysed the infrastructure and the economic development of Peru in the latest years compared with other countries of the region.
'Peru deserves a fairer and more varied game. If one thinks that 'La U' will win the 'Clasico' over the weekend, then a five sol bet can be placed on Betsson.'
